Privacy and traffic measurement

Privacy

MTBNSF uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits to twelve known public information pages.

What traffic measurements include

The hosting provider may process page URLs, visit times, referring sites, approximate location, browser, operating system and device type. Pageview URLs have their query strings and fragments removed. No page text, custom event properties or shared cross-site visitor identifiers are supplied by this application.

Coverage includes Home, About, Methods, Sources, Data health, Research, Energy-system context, the Acid rain guide, Community observations, Corrections, Privacy and Terms. Exploratory Atlas pages, Scenario Lab, API routes, feeds and unknown paths are excluded. Measuring a visit does not approve the page as evidence or change its search visibility.

The analytics component does not load when the browser reports Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. It also excludes local development and preview hosts. Browser blocking and these preferences mean the counts do not include every visit.

Measurement is also skipped when the referring URL contains a page path, query string or fragment. Only an empty referrer or an HTTPS origin is accepted, so traffic totals omit those filtered visits.

Application behavior

This application does not request accounts, personal profiles, community reports, precise locations, files, payment information or marketing consent. It does not add custom cookies, persistent browser storage, advertising trackers or automatic reposting.

Hosting operations

The hosting service may retain operational logs under its own policies. MTBNSF does not claim that infrastructure-level request, security or reliability logs are absent.
